Facilities Task Force

Update from October 16, 2018

On Tuesday, Kevin Holm, LHB (district consultant), Mark Kuisle and Marlys Carney, facilities taskforce co-chairs, presented information to the School Board.

The meeting’s objective was to provide information on Referendum goals, housing study, and present draft options for the board to provide feedback. The longer-term objective is to define elements/scope for the survey by the end of November.

The full presentation can be view on the Board Doc Website: https://www.boarddocs.com/mn/rps535/Board.nsf/files/B5KL3W530D85/$file/Board%20Update%204%20181016_HN.pdf

This was just an information item. At the conclusion of the conversation, the board was in consensus to continue researching all options as presented. The district and taskforce are looking forward to feedback from the community at the next Citizen Voice Meeting on November 7, 2018, from 5:30-7:30 PM in the Edison Board Room.

Citizen Voice: Join us for a facilities conversation.

During this Citizen Voice Meeting, our consultant team and task force co-chairs will present ideas and options to be considered for long-term solutions to the district's growing population.

The goals of the options that will be discussed are to: maximize the balance of diversity, maximize walkability, maximize district efficiency, and minimize future boundary changes.

If you are unable to attend, we will live stream this meeting on our youtube channel (@ISD535) and will provide a link to ask questions or submit feedback electronically.

We will meet in the Edison Administration Building Board Room at 615 7th Street SW.

Immunization and School Based Flu Vaccination Information
Immunization Information

Dear RPS Family,

We hope that you are having an enjoyable summer! It's hard to believe that July will be here next week. With that in mind, we wanted to share information with you regarding school-based influenza clinics. The district has partnered with your child's clinic to provide the flu vaccine at school this fall. This is a fast, easy, and convenient way to keep your children, your school, and your community healthy throughout the year. It is not required.

What’s really important?

Like last year, there will be a fixed registration period. Registration will begin online August 8thand will end on September 12th at the end of the day. Registration forms will not be accepted after September 13.

The nasal spray (FluMist) will be available as an option this year. You can find more information about this at the link below.

What else do you need to know?

  • Registration is required, online preferred, but paper forms are available at school
  • Non-medication pain reducing options will be offered
  • Your health insurance will be billed just like it is in your clinic
  • Your child can get the vaccine even if you don’t have insurance at little or no cost to you
  • Please remind your child the day of your school’s clinic and make sure your child wears clothing that allows access to the upper arm

Information on anything above is available now at http://www.semnic.org.
